Caitlin Glass
Caitlin Glass directs the Boston University School of Law Antiracism and Community Lawyering Practicum, which trains students in the theory and praxis of community and movement lawyering. Under her supervision, students in the practicum provide legal support to movements that aim to challenge forms of subordination and advance racial and social justice.
Caitlin’s scholarship focuses on criminal law and procedure, race and the law, participatory methods, and movement law. Among other things, she has written articles and amicus briefs addressing legal, theoretical, and moral concerns about the legal doctrines of felony murder and accomplice liability/joint venture. As part of her work in this area, Caitlin co-created the website https://felonymurderlaws.com/ and helped start a national coalition to end felony murder laws. She has also collaborated with the group We Are Joint Venture, Inc., which was started at MCI Norfolk.
Before joining BU Law, Caitlin was the Policy Program Director at the BU Center for Antiracist Research. Her previous roles included Staff Attorney at the Office of the Appellate Defender, Assistant Director of the NYU Law Clemency Resource Center, Marvin M. Karpatkin Fellow with the ACLU’s Racial Justice Program, and law clerk for Judge Ann M. Donnelly in the Eastern District of New York. Caitlin received her law degree from NYU School of Law, and she received her undergraduate degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
